New EU pay-transparency rules, explained

A directive now rolling out across the EU is changing how pay is handled in hiring. What it means in practice:

  • Employers must show a salary or salary range in the job posting or before the interview
  • They can no longer ask about your salary history
  • You gain the right to information on pay levels for comparable roles; firms with 100+ staff report their gender pay gap

For you: more leverage and less guesswork in salary talks. For employers: recruitment and pay practices need to adjust.

IND — Register of Recognised Sponsors

Only an IND-recognised sponsor can sponsor a highly-skilled-migrant residence permit. Before you accept an offer, check that the employer is on this register. It is searchable and updated monthly.

Everything worth bookmarking, in one place.

I went through hundreds of sources and kept only what actually helps. Checked and repaired July 2026.

Job boards

Most boards drown you in roles that already closed. These are the ones known for being current, or for a specific niche. Remember: a job board is a bonus, not a strategy.

Visas, tax and legal

Mostly English, some Dutch with translation available. Always start from the official source before trusting a forum post. And on anything that touches tax or immigration, talk to a professional.

Communities and people

Most jobs here are filled through people, not postings. These are the first step to meeting the right ones.

Practical tools

Tools I use myself, and update when something better shows up. Check what a role actually pays before you name a number.

News and cities

What is going on around you, in English. Worth reading before an interview: knowing the local story is a signal in itself.
